- Area: How large is the area to be shaded? It tells you the size of the parasol. Also consider what you want to shade: a table, a lounge or sun loungers.
- Round or angular: The basic shape of your garden helps with the shape of the canopy: round, square or rectangular. Ideally the shape of the parasol continues the design of the garden.
- Pole: For tables and lounges Glatz names the cantilever parasol as the ideal choice, for sun loungers the centre-pole parasol. With a low evening sun Glatz recommends a cantilever parasol, which tilts easily.

More about fabric qualitiesHelp with your choice
- Fabric quality 2, 4 and 5: Glatz offers three fabric qualities. The higher the quality, the longer the fabric colour lasts (lightfastness), the more tear-resistant and water-repellent the fabric is and the finer it looks. All three offer UV protection.
- Look: Quality 5 looks matt and firm, quality 2 glossy and light.
- Material: Quality 5 is solution-dyed polyacrylic, quality 4 solution-dyed polyester, quality 2 piece-dyed polyester.
- The selection shows which quality is available for which model and in which colour.
- Valance: The valance is the strip of fabric that hangs down from the edge of the canopy. With a valance the parasol looks classic; without one the line is plainer. The selection shows whether a model offers both variants.

- Base weight: The larger the parasol, the heavier the base must be. The matching base weight per model and size is set by the Glatz engineers; the selection below shows only the mountings that fit your model and size.
- Ground: Lawn: Glatz recommends a lawn spike or a ground anchor. Solid, tiled or concrete ground: a base or, if the parasol has to be mobile, a wheeled base.
- Ground sleeve: Anchor set in concrete, ideal for sinking into the ground. It is flush with the ground when the parasol is removed and so is not a tripping hazard.
- Mounting plate: Mounting for solid ground when no ground sleeve can be set in concrete. Like the ground sleeve it is a fixed mounting for a permanent spot.
- Wall bracket: Ideal when the parasol is to be mounted on a wall, for example when the permanent spot is bordered by a wall.
- Lawn spike: Mobile ground spike, ideal for small parasols to be fixed in grass.
- Base: The base stands loose on solid ground and holds the parasol with its weight; the larger the parasol, the heavier it must be.
- Wheeled base: Wheeled bases are mobile and let you adjust the parasol to the position of the sun; the maximum wind speeds cannot be guaranteed with them, however.
- Not every parasol model suits every mounting; the configurator shows the mountings that fit the chosen model.
- Wind: The permitted wind speeds are given in the operating instructions of the model.
